The friendly and welcoming Scottish capital is a fascinating city in which to spend a few days. Easy to get around, it’s divided between the Old Town and the New Town ensuring that there is plenty of interest for all its guests.

Day 1 - Edinburgh
Explore the Royal Mile
 The Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s charming Old Town is the perfect place to get acquainted with the Scottish capital. Incorporating four separate streets (Castle Hill, Lawnmarket, High Street and Canongate) it is brimming with free museums. Edinburgh’s largest cathedral, St Giles’ Cathedral can be found there too.
Grab a baked potato from the aptly named Baked Potato Shop on Cockburn Street. Afterwards visit two of the Edinburgh’s finest museums, the Royal Museum and the Museum of Scotland which stand side by side on Chambers Street.
Finish the day off in Whistlebinkies on South Bridge just off the Royal Mile. This is always a favourite with backpackers thanks to drinks promotions and live music.

Day 2 - Edinburgh
Scotland's number one attraction
 Visit Edinburgh Castle, Scotland’s number one tourist attraction. Its highlights include the Crown Jewels, the Royal Apartments and the National War Memorial of Scotland. Dedicate at least two hours to get the most out of your visit.
Make your way down to the Grassmarket area from the castle and find a pub called the Last Drop which do special lunch deals for backpackers. Afterwards go over to St Andrew Square and get the 15A bus to Roslyn to be a guest in Roslyn Chapel, famous thanks to the Dan Brown book ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
As touristy as the Royal Mile is, many of the pubs which line it do good food making it a great place to get your tea. Two such establishments are the Royal Mile and The End of the World. After something to eat visit Grassmarket again, home to a wealth of pubs.

Day 3 - Edinburgh
Check out the New Town
 For the best view of Edinburgh, scale Arthur’s Seat, the extinct volcanic to the east of the city. If heights aren’t your thing, or you’re not the most energetic person in the world but you still want a bird’s eye view of the city, climb Carlton Hill at the eastern end of Princes Street. The climb isn’t near as strenuous.
Afterwards explore Edinburgh’s New Town. Packed with trendy shops and chic restaurants, it is quite different from the Old Town but still has many attractions. These include the Queen Street Gardens, the National Portrait Gallery also on Queens Street, and the National Gallery on The Mound.
Finish the night off on one of Edinburgh’s infamous ghost tours which depart from the Royal Mile Street. If you have the energy afterwards, check out Opal Lounge, one of the city’s trendiest bars.
